Malian married couple and collaborators Amadou & Mariam will drop their tenth (that’s right!) record,Folila, in late March, and it features notable collaborators of all musical backgrounds – TV on the Radio,Theophilus London, and Bassekou Kouyate all lend a hand. The record’s fantastic first single, “Dougou Badia,” features Santigold and Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner, both of whose stylings fit in perfectly with Amadou & Mariam’s rhythmic, super-catchy guitar and vocal lines.
You’ll likely want to listen to this nine or ten million times, and you’ll likely notice something different every time – we love the latticed guitar interplay toward the song’s latter half, and the flawless way Santi’s and Mariam’s vocals compliment each other. This track will drop on a pre-album EP on January 24, and Folila is out March 27th.
